About
“Our mission sends us across borders of every sort. Often, we must make ourselves at home among more than one people or culture, reminding us again that the farther we go in giving the more we stand to receive.”
Blessed Rev. Basil Moreau, C.S.C.
Founder, Congregation of Holy Cross (From Holy Cross and Christian Education by
Rev. James B. King, C.S.C.)
Mission
In collaboration with key campus units, the Office of Belonging, Engagement, and Mission will lead and catalyze Notre Dame’s efforts to enhance excellence and belonging—where all can thrive—as a premier global Catholic research university.
Vision
Responding to the Gospel’s timeless call, the Office of Belonging, Engagement, and Mission will serve as a wellspring for the University’s commitment to uplift the dignity of all within the human family and foster a common life in which love and compassion are the foundations.
Priorities
Our office helps coordinate, inform, assist, support, and assess the work of campus partners to advance four priorities:
Attracting, recruiting, and retaining students, faculty, and staff fully committed to the University’s values, ideals, and mission of service to both the Church and the larger world.
Strengthening a culture of excellence, inclusion, and belonging—grounded in Catholic Social Teaching—that enables all members of our community to experience Notre Dame as their home.
Enhancing our reach and effectiveness, on campus and beyond, as a community engaged in transformational endeavors in service to love.
Committing to long-term, sustainable progress and establishing accountability structures through continual assessment, evaluation, and impact metrics.
